Bicycle Commuting at Brown University
Monday Bike Trains
The Providence Bicycle Coaltion is starting up a Monday Bike Trains project next month. If you’ve been thinking about trying bicycle commuting, now is the time! From the PBC website:
During the months of May, June, and July we have experienced bicycle commuters who have kindly volunteered to lead bicycle trains into providence. What’s a bicycle train? It’s a ride that starts at a predetermined location, follows a predetermined route, and passes, to the best of our ability, certain locations at specified times. If you’ve been thinking about trying bicycle commuting, but don’t want to try it alone, hop on one of the PBC Monday Bike Trains!
Please spread the word! It would be great to see this project grow and increase the number of people who bike commute.
Bike Trains for 2008 B2WD
As of now, there are two bike trains planned in conjunction with B2WD 2008. I’d encourage anyone planning to ride near either of these routes to join the trains. They are a great way to show motorists that there are alternatives to driving everywhere. If you regularly commute via another route and would be willing to organize a bike train, please contact me and we can work to add another route.
Start of a Friday East Bay Group Commute
It’s official, we are going to try and head home as a group on Friday’s. We will be leaving at 5:10pm from the CIT loading dock (corner of Brook and Waterman). I’m sure we all want to get home, so we are going to try our best to be prompt and head out on time. The group will go at a comfortable pace for the slowest rider, so we can enjoy a nice social commute home.
Even if you don’t ride down the EBBP, but you head out over the Henderson, you are more than welcome to come join us for the first part of the trip.
For those who may miss the train or want to join us somewhere along the path, we will be swinging by the traffic circle on East River Road to pick up Geoff, I’ve mapped the outbound route.
Hope to see some of you there!
